Twelve questions, answered without hedging

No hedging and no upsell. Where the honest answer is 'nobody knows', it says that.

Is porn addiction a real diagnosis?

Not in the way most people mean. Major diagnostic manuals do not list 'porn addiction' as a standalone disorder; the closest recognised category is compulsive sexual behaviour disorder, which is about loss of control causing real distress or impairment, not about a quantity of use. That distinction matters, because a lot of people who feel terrible about their use do not meet any clinical threshold, and a lot of the loudest voices online are not clinicians.

How much is too much?

There is no number, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. The useful questions are about control and cost: does it happen when you have decided it will not, does it take time you had allocated elsewhere, and is it affecting your mood, work or relationship? Frequency alone tells you almost nothing.

Does this site tell me to quit?

No. Plenty of adults use porn without any of it being a problem, and this site takes no position on whether you should. It is written for people who have decided, on their own, that something about their own use is not working for them.

Will the self-check tell me if I am addicted?

No, and it deliberately cannot. No questionnaire on any website can make that determination. What it does is show you which part of the pattern is bothering you most and point you at the relevant guide. If the result worries you, a clinician can do what a set of questions cannot.

Are my answers stored anywhere?

No. Every tool here runs entirely inside your browser. Your answers are never transmitted, never written into the web address, never put in the page title, and never sent to an analytics system. We could not retrieve them if we wanted to, because we never receive them.

Why does nothing here shame me about it?

Because shame reliably makes the pattern worse. Feeling disgusted with yourself is one of the most common triggers for going back to the behaviour within a day or two, so a resource built on shame is working against its own stated goal.

Do blockers and filters actually work?

They work as scaffolding, not as a solution. A blocker adds friction at the moment when your decision-making is at its weakest, which is genuinely useful. It does not change what you are reaching for it to solve, and any determined adult can route around one in about a minute.

What if my partner found out and is upset?

That is a relationship conversation, and it usually goes better prepared than improvised. What partners tend to react to is secrecy, the sense of being compared, or a broken agreement — more often than the material itself. The guide on relationships walks through how to open it.

Is a relapse a failure?

No, and the framing itself causes problems. A plan that treats one slip as total failure gives you a reason to abandon the whole thing, which is why all-or-nothing plans collapse so predictably. What matters is how quickly you return to the plan, not whether the line was ever broken.

Should I do a 90-day challenge?

You can, and some people find a hard reset genuinely clarifying. Be aware that the popular challenge formats come with a lot of unsupported physiological claims attached, and that a fixed streak gives you a single, brittle measure of success. A plan built around triggers and boundaries usually survives longer than one built around a number.

When should I see a professional?

When it is persistent, when it is causing you real distress, when it is affecting work or a relationship in ways you cannot pull back, when it involves escalation you are uncomfortable with, or when you are simply tired of dealing with it alone. You do not need to have hit a threshold to be allowed to ask for help.

Is there any adult content on this site?

No. There is no explicit material here and no links to any, on any page, including the labelled commercial section. This is an education and self-reflection site, and putting adult destinations inside a reset journey would contradict the entire point of it.
